For 25 years, Notre Dame Magazine has set a standard of quality among university publications and in Catholic publishing. Each issue of the quarterly engages wide-sweeping issues of cultural and personal importance. Yet no subject area has so deeply and perennially resonated with the magazine's readers as those stories which address family matters. This volume contains about three dozen of the best of those essays including topics such as raising children, dealing with death, cleaning out the ancestral home, and caring for elderly parents. Rather than advice-giving or "how to" articles, these are personal and reflective narratives which provide insightful, illuminating truth into that aspect of the human condition which virtually all of us share -- that our lives process in a tangle of intimate relationships known as family.
