This lecture explores the analogy that all readers are kinds of travelers, based on the imaginative text of Italian author, Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities (1972), in which a fictionalized Marco Polo describes foreign cities to a rapt, but sometimes irascible, Kubla Khan.
