Comments

The goal of this presentation was to offer alternatives tor the teacher-centered pedagogy practiced in most Chinese classrooms that focuses on memorizing lecture content in a system driven by highly competitive exit exams. The talk opens with a discussion of the classroom as a potentially democratic space, drawing on the theories of Paulo Freire and bell hooks, and then moves on to offer ten best practices that promote participatory learning and critical thinking.
